CryptoFinders Ltd ("we", "us") is a private investigation firm registered in England & Wales. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use this website or engage us to trace and recover unclaimed digital assets. We are the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
- Inquiry details you send us — your name, email address, phone number, the exchange or platform involved, the state you believe holds the property, and anything you include in your notes.
- Claim evidence, if you instruct us — identity documents and records connecting you to the original account, collected only after we have told you exactly what the relevant US state requires.
- Technical basics — our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) to keep the site running and secure. This website sets no analytics or advertising cookies.
How we use it
- To assess your inquiry and search unclaimed-property records on your behalf (legitimate interests, and steps taken at your request prior to a contract).
- To prepare and submit claims to US state unclaimed-property offices, where you have instructed us (performance of a contract).
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including record-keeping and anti-fraud checks (legal obligation).
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or send marketing you have not asked for.
Who we share it with
Only those who need it for your claim: the US state unclaimed-property office holding the record, and service providers (such as secure document handling and email) acting under contract for us. Submitting a claim necessarily transfers your information to authorities in the United States; we make such transfers only as needed for the claim you have instructed, with safeguards required by UK law.
How long we keep it
We request only what the relevant state requires and delete claim evidence once the claim process no longer needs it. Inquiry records that do not become engagements are deleted within 12 months. Records of concluded engagements are retained for 6 years to meet legal and professional obligations, then deleted.
Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our use of it, and withdraw any consent you have given. Write to hello@cryptofinders.co.uk and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
What we will never ask for
We will never ask for a seed phrase, private key, wallet password, or exchange login credentials, and we will never ask you to transfer crypto to us. Any such request in our name is fraudulent — please report it to us.
