How we are required to conduct ourselves

Unclaimed‑property finder rules differ by American state. CryptoFinders Ltd is a London company; the obligations below are the constants no state lets an investigator skip, wherever we operate from.

§ We are not a government body

CryptoFinders is a private investigation firm, not a US state agency. States never charge a fee to search or claim your own property directly — you may always approach a state's unclaimed‑property office yourself, at no cost.

§ No fee before you are paid

We never collect a fee before a state approves and pays your claim. Several states make upfront fees unenforceable by law; we ask for none, anywhere.

§ Fee caps, honoured by state

Where a state caps finder fees — commonly 10–15% of the amount recovered — our engagement letter reflects that cap precisely. You will see the exact percentage in writing before you instruct us.

§ Waiting periods, respected

Some states prohibit finder agreements for a period after property is reported — often 24 months. We will not contract with you earlier than the law allows, even where we have already traced your record.

§ Payment goes to you

Recovered funds are paid by the relevant state directly to the owner in every jurisdiction in which we operate — never routed through CryptoFinders first.

§ Your evidence, minimised

We request only what the relevant state requires to verify your identity, and do not retain documents beyond what the claim process needs.

What we will never ask for

A seed phrase, a private key, a wallet password, or an exchange login. We will never ask you to transfer crypto anywhere, and we take no payment before a state has paid you. Any message in our name that does any of these things is fraudulent — verify against a state's official unclaimed‑property site, and tell us.
